In 2011 Jason Gonnion joined Woodbury High School as the Royals’ new activities director.
Most recently, Gonnion was dean of students at Forest Lake High School.
He takes over for Jason Schultz, who left Woodbury after two years as activities director to become assistant principal at Cottage Grove Middle School.
At Forest Lake, Gonnion coordinated numerous efforts for the school including college and career readiness initiatives, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), National Honor Society, Student Advisory, Financial Aid, Link Crew and Athletics and Activities leadership.
His experience also includes an assistant principal internship at Tartan High School, teaching special education, physical education and work experience courses at Tartan and in the Stillwater school district.
He has coached football, golf, Nordic skiing and volleyball and received numerous educational and athletic awards over the years.
Gonnion holds an educational administration degree from Saint Mary’s University, coaching accreditation through the National Federation of State High School Associations, masters of education from the University of Minnesota in K-12 physical education and a bachelor of science from U of W-LaCrosse in sport management.
