Nordic skiing teams from East Ridge, Park and Woodbury kicked off the winter at the recent Trollhaugen Holiday Relay Meet on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Trollhaugen in Dresser, Wis.

The holiday relays is one of the largest ski races in the state with over 750 skiers, 17 of whom were from District 833. Kids from all three of the area schools raced in a relay-style set-up that consisted of teams of four skiers. Each skier skied 3.2 kilometers each for a total of 12.8 kilometers for each relay team.

“It was a very exciting day and overall the coaching staff was very pleased with the results and the athletes exceeded our expectations,” new Nordic head coach Joe Wacker said.
