East Ridge Athlete of the Week: Matt Koken

Matt Koken made a splash in his return to the pool for the East Ridge boys swimming and diving team.

Matt Koken made a splash in his return to the pool for the East Ridge boys swimming and diving team.

Koken, a senior who swam club as a junior instead of for the Raptors, helped East Ridge beat defending Suburban East Conference champion Mounds View last week. Koken, who was All-State as a sophomore, took first in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly events with respective times of 22.69 seconds and 53.20 seconds, both of which were new school-record times. He also helped the Raptors win Raptors win all three relay events at the meet.
