East Ridge gymnastics: Raptors beat Stillwater with 139.875After an impressive season-opening 137.625 in a win over Hastings, the East Ridge gymnastics team stepped it up another notch last week, beating Stillwater 139.875 to 136.25, on Thursday, Dec. 8, at East Ridge High School.

After an impressive season-opening 137.625 in a win over Hastings, the East Ridge gymnastics team stepped it up another notch last week, beating Stillwater 139.875 to 136.25, on Thursday, Dec. 8, at East Ridge High School.
East Ridge senior Leah Robinette led the way in the win over Stillwater (0-2), earning first place in the all-around with a 37.6 score. Robinette’s top event of the night was the vault, where she scored an impressive 9.725 to take first place. She also scored a 9.375 on the uneven bars, a 9.325 on the beam and a 9.15 in the floor exercise.
Megan Trollen also turned in an impressive meet for the Raptors (2-0) in the win. Trollen had East Ridge’s second best all-around score with a 34.225. The eighth grader had the Raptors second-best finish on the floor (9.1), on the beam (8.7), on the uneven bars (7.525) and fourth-best vault (8.9).
In the vault, after Robinette, Keliana Thompson and Kelly McKenzie had East Ridge’s second and third best finishes. Thompson scored a 9.35 and McKenzie turned in a 9.25.
After topping Stillwater, East Ridge finished in first place in the Prior Lake Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Twin Oaks Middle School with a score of 139.6.
Robinette took first place in the all-around with a score of 37.4. Trollen finished in third place with a 34.7 score and McKenzie finished in fifth place with a 34.05 score. Robinette was over 9.0 in all her events – 9.5 in the vault, 9.3 on the bars, 9.3 on the beam and 9.3 in the floor exercise. Trollen had the Raptors’ top finish in the floor exercise with a 9.45.
Next, East Ridge travels to White Bear Lake on Thursday, Dec. 15, to take on the Bears before hitting the road for the Rush City Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 17.
