Woodbury Athlete of the Week: Justin Herold-Plakut

Last week, Woodbury’s Justin Herold-Plakut hit a milestone during a string of wins for the Royals’ wrestling team.

    Justin Herold-Plakut, a sophomore, earned his 100th career high school win at the Maple Grove tournament last week. Though unranked, he beat fifth-ranked Devin Wolf of Irondale in the semifinals and finished in second place.

Woodbury’s Justin Herold-Plakut hit a milestone during a string of wins last week for the Royals’ wrestling team.

Herold-Plakut, a sophomore, earned his 100th career high school win at the Maple Grove tournament last week. Herold-Plakut finished in second place. Though unranked, he beat fifth-ranked Devin Wolf of Irondale in the semifinals, but then lost to two-time state place winner Jordan Hanan of Annandale/Maple Lake, who is ranked fifth in Class AA, by a close 4-2 score. Herold-Plakut also won both of his matches at last week’s District 833 Triangular against rivals Park and East Ridge with pins.
