The Woodbury girls hockey team suffered a pair of lopsided Suburban East Conference losses last week – 7-1 to Cretin-Derham Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 29, and 12-1 to sixth-ranked Stillwater on Saturday, Dec. 3.
In the loss to Cretin-Derham Hall, the Raiders (3-3-1; 1-2 SEC) opened up a 6-0 lead on the Royals with four first-period goals and two second-period goals.
Woodbury senior Rachel Letsche made it a 6-1 game with a unassisted goal 1:40 into the third period, but that’s the only time the Royals would light the lamp in the game.
Against the powerhouse Ponies, Stillwater (5-1; 3- SEC) took a 5-1 first-period lead then scored six goals in the second period to blow the game open.
Woodbury’s Livia Twohig had the Royals’ lone goal, an unassisted tally 8:40 into the first period to make it a 4-1 game. But, that’s as close as Woodbury would come.
The Royals traveled to eighth-ranked White Bear Lake on Tuesday, Dec. 6, after the Bulletin went to press.
Next, Woodbury faces off at Forest Lake (1-4-1; 0-3 SEC) on Saturday, Dec. 10. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
