The Woodbury football team ended the 2011 regular season with some fireworks, scoring a season-high in a 62-31 rout of Forest Lake on Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Forest Lake.

In the Suburban East Conference win, Woodbury (5-3) scored five straight touchdowns – including four first-quarter scores – after falling behind 7-0 to build a 36-7 lead just minutes into the second quarter on the way to the victory.

Junior quarterback Sawyer Moon threw four touchdown passes in the win to four different receivers – Ryan Fritze, Connor McKeen, Tucker Benjamin and Jordan Voit – and junior running back Quaran Al-Hameed ran for two touchdowns in the win.

The Section 4AAAAA tournament is up next for Woodbury. The Royals earned the second seed in the seven-team section. No. 3-ranked Cretin-Derham Hall is the top seed and earned a first-round bye. Woodbury will now play host to rival Park, the seventh seed, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Royals Stadium. Park (0-8; 0-8 SEC)fell 41-7 to Mounds View in the finale and is now riding a 19-game losing streak. The Wolfpack’s last win was Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, 27-25 over East Ridge. The Wolfpack is now 3-33 since the start of 2008 season. The Royals took down Park 49-13 in the two teams' meeting this year back on Sept. 16. Other teams in Section 4AAAAA are: Eagan, East Ridge, Hastings and Minneapolis South.
