The Woodbury girls tennis season came to an end as the Royals were unable to advance an individual tennis player to the state meet out of the Section 4AA tournament.
Woodbury now must say goodbye to eight seniors from its final 13-player roster – Kristin Chu, Rachel Eisenrich, Heena Joo, Anna Lundberg, Hannah Robbins, CoCo Vizoli, Rae Zellmer and Andra Zerbe.
In the Section 4AA individual tournament, Robbins – the sixth seed – won her section opener, 6-3, 6-1, before falling to Mahtomedi’s Hannah Shands 7-5, 7-6 (4) in the second round. Vizoli fell 6-0, 6-0 to fourth-seeded Lauren Welch of White Bear Lake in the first round.
In doubles action, the team of sophomore Katherine Kriebich and junior Katilyn Shea won its opening match, 1-6, 7-5, 6-2, over a tandem from White Bear Lake before falling 6-3, 6-4 to Hill-Murray’s top pair.
The doubles pairing of Eisenrich and sophomore Shanna Stevenson fell 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to another Hill-Murray duo in the opening round.
