Kids can become firefighters for a day this weekend at Woodbury fire stations as part of Fire Prevention Week activities.
The event allows children to pull on firefighters’ gear, climb on fire trucks and handle the heavy hoses used to put out fires. Life-saving equipment also will be on display.
The event occurs Saturday, Oct. 15, when all of Woodbury’s fire stations host open houses.
The open houses are held each year in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme is “It’s Fire Prevention Week! Protect Your Family from Fire.” The campaign aims to empower citizens in protecting their families with life-saving technologies and advance planning.
The open houses will take place at the following stations and times:
• Fox Run, 1275 Woodbury Drive, 9 a.m. to noon
• Upper Afton, 6301 Upper Afton Road, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Radio Drive, 2100 Radio Drive, 1 to 4 p.m. (as part of the Public Safety Building event)
• Thames Road, 6975 Thames Road, 3 to 6 p.m.
Questions about the open houses can be directed to the Woodbury Public Safety Department at (651) 714-3600.
