East Ridge struggled in two Suburban East Conference matches last week, falling to perennial powers Mounds View and Stillwater.
The Raptors (6-2; 1-2 SEC) opened conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 6, with a 7-0 loss to Mounds View, followed by a 6-1 loss to Stillwater on Thursday, Sept. 8. It was East Ridge’s first two losses of the year.
“It was a tough start to the conference, but we had many quality matches with both teams,” East Ridge head coach Jon Rydberg said.
East Ridge junior Maddie Blake earned the lone win on the week for the Raptors at second singles 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 over Stillwater’s Savanah Johnson.
East Ridge took on Red Wing on Monday and White Bear Lake on Tuesday, after the Bulletin went to print.
Next, East Ridge faces off with intra-district rival Woodbury, who the Raptors beat already this season.
“The girls continue to battle and keep many matches close with strategy,” Rydberg said.
