A military veteran from Woodbury had lunch today with President Obama during the president's stop in Cannon Falls, Minn.
Navy veteran Henry Mathia joined four other Minnesota veterans at the Old Market Deli for the meal, the White House stated in a press release. All five soldiers are post-Sept. 11 veterans, according to the White House.
Cannon Falls was the first stop on Obama's three-day Midwest bus tour.
Monday's meal, according to the White House, was “an opportunity for the president to hear directly from rural veterans about their experiences and discuss the steps his administration has taken … to ensure all of America’s veterans have the support they need and deserve when they leave the military.”
Other Minnesota servicemen at the meal were Scott Peer of Cannon Falls, Timothy Loney of St. Paul, Thomas B. Newman of Hugo, and Joseph Kidd of Stewartville.
