Wippler quickly bows out at Lake Middle School

Lake Middle School Interim Principal Rick Wippler turned in his resignation Tuesday, just weeks after being tapped for the job.

Lake Middle School Interim Principal Rick Wippler turned in his resignation Tuesday, just weeks after being tapped for the job.

According to a District 833 press release, Wippler submitted his resignation “for personal reasons” effective immediately. The district immediately went back to the drawing board in search of a replacement.

Assistant Principal Richard Paisner will serve as acting principal until the job is filled. Wippler had been formally hired by the School Board as interim principal at its July 21 meeting.

“It is unfortunate that Mr. Wippler cannot continue to fill this important position, but we are confident we can identify an outstanding leader for the Lake Middle School community,” Superintendent Mark Porter said through a press release.

According to District 833 Director of Communications Barb Brown, the district previously had difficulty locating an interim principal who would be willing to serve the entire school year.

"We're hoping to find someone as soon as possible," she said.

Brown said Wippler's resignation came as a surprise to the district.

District 833 had originally planned to begin the search for Lake's full tme principal this fall.

"We were going to work through the process with the public after the start of the school year," she said.

District 833 has posted for internal and external applicants for the position. Applicants will be screened, interviewed and selected in accordance with district process and procedures.
