East Ridge/Park boys lacrosse: Raptors beat Forest Lake

The East Ridge/Park boys lacrosse team earned its first Suburban East Conference victory of the 2011 season with a dominant 11-1 win over Forest Lake on Wednesday, April 27, at East Ridge.

The East Ridge/Park boys lacrosse team earned its first Suburban East Conference victory of the 2011 season with a dominant 11-1 win over Forest Lake on Wednesday, April 27, at East Ridge.

Last year, the East Ridge/Park cooperative beat Forest Lake 12-4 for its first-ever conference win. The Raptors also beat Roseville 5-4 last year for its only other SEC win.

This season, East Ridge/Park (2-3; 1-2 SEC) battled temperatures in the mid-30’s and a light snowfall to earn an easy win over the Rangers (0-4; 0-1 SEC).

Eight different players scored for East Ridge/Park in the win.

David Ferguson led the way with four points, on two goals and two assists. Tyler Varhol and Cameron Lyles each scored two goals and tallied an assist, and Luke Wettershan, Emilio Rodriguez, Joey Pierre, Austin Herder and Brent Wallace each scored one goal.

Additionally, Jacob Matenaer had two assists and Brexton Turner had one assist.

In goal, Spencer Donnelly and James Hones combined for the win. Hones made two saves without allowing a goal. Donnelly had one save.

East Ridge/Park was at Mounds View (5-1; 3-0 SEC) on Monday, May 2, after the Bulletin went to press. Next, the team travels to White Bear Lake on Wednesday, May 4, to take on the Bears (2-3; 0-2 SEC).
