Police: Female jogger raped in Woodbury park

A woman was sexually assaulted Saturday morning while jogging in a Woodbury park, according to Woodbury Public Safety.

Police said the attack occurred at 5:30 a.m. in Markgrafs Lake Park along a walking path on the lake’s northeast side.

Police are seeking the public’s help in tracking down the suspect, though a physical description of the male was limited due to darkness.

The victim, a 33-year-old woman, appeared to have sustained physical injuries. She was evaluated at Woodwinds Hospital.

Woodbury police said anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call 651-439-9381 with information.

In response to the report, Woodbury police Sgt. Neil Bauer recommended walking in pairs rather than alone and considering "more public" areas for exercise.

"Those are good options to consider," he said.

Markgrafs Lake Park is located in a residential area south of Walmart, Bauer said.
