Woodbury High School volleyball standout Cassie Cahill inked her commitment Wednesday to Quincy University.

Cahill was one of thousands of high school student-athletes who participated in spring National Signing Day – a day dedicated to recognizing students who will compete at the collegiate level.

“Anytime you’re asked to come play for a post-secondary institution, it’s an honor,” said Woodbury Activities Director Jason Schultz.

He called Cahill a hard worker and “a great kid.” The senior showed much improvement on the volleyball court this past year, Schultz said.

“This season she dedicated herself to her craft,” he said.

After signing her collegiate letter of intent, Cahill said she settled on Quincy after falling in love with the campus setting and meeting prospective teammates.

“It was everything I was looking for,” she said.

Quincy’s Div. II program is located in Quincy, Ill. Last year the Hawks volleyball team finished 7-20. It primarily competes against other teams from other Midwest colleges.

“I’m really excited for it,” Cahill said. “It will be a really good experience for me.”
