Stillwater School Board approves $160,000 contract for new superintendent

The Stillwater Area School District officially has a new superintendent.
District 834 School Board finalized the hiring of Corey Lunn as the district’s new superintendent at its April 14 School Board meeting when the contact was approved.
The contract will begin July 1 and run through June 30, 2014.
Lunn will make an annual salary of $160,000 for the 2011-2012 school year, $164,000 for the 2012-2013 school year and $168,000 for the 2013-2014 school year.
Lunn’s contract outlines the duties of superintendent:
-Being in charge of the administration of the schools under the direction of the School Board;
-Being the chief executive office;
-Giving direction and assignment of teachers and other employees;
-Organization, reorganization and arrangement of administrative and supervisory staff;
-Selection of personnel subject to the approval of the School Board;
-Suggestions regarding policies, regulations, rules and procedures;
-Abide by the policies, regulations, rules and procedures established by the School Board and state law.
Lunn has led the Montgomery-Lonsdale Schools for the past four years. Prior to arriving in Montgomery, Lunn spent 12 years in the Prior Lake-Savage Schools as a principal, assistant principal, and teacher. Lunn also taught science in Mason City, Iowa for several years.
He earned his undergraduate degree at Southwest State University, and earned advanced degrees from Mankato State University and the University of Minnesota.
Lunn, 44, had previously said he was drawn to District 834 after seeing the position would be a good place for him both professionally and personally.
