Woodbury resident Mary Swenson was crowned Miss Minnesota International Sunday March 13.

Swenson competes for national honors this July in Chicago. This year marked Swenson’s fourth run at the crown.

Swenson's platform is "From Bullied to Beauty Queen: Building Unshakable Self-Esteem."

The pageant was held in St. Cloud.

Fellow Woodbury resident Gabby Taylor, 17, was crowned the first runner-up in the Miss Teen Minnesota pageant.

Taylor’s platform was sports safety. Taylor had previously said she chose her platform after having experienced a cheerleading injury, which resulted in her right arm becoming paralyzed.

Additionally, Taylor was awarded the Cover Model Award and the Miss Teen Amity Award. If for any reason the Miss Teen Minnesota is unable to fulfill her duties, Taylor would fill in.

See the March 23 print edition of the Woodbury Bulletin for a feature on Miss Minnesota International, Mary Swenson.
