New Life Academy fell just short of a state tournament berth with a loss Friday to Maranatha Christian in the girls Section 4A championship.

NLA fell 42-37 in the game played at Hamline University. Cara Lutes scored 14 points to lead NLA. Teammate Rebekah Schmidt finished with 10.

Maranatha's Alexis Long led all scorers with 18.
