Hastings man killed in St. Paul workplace accident
A Hastings man, Jack McCoy, 85, died tragically Thursday afternoon in an accident at a St. Paul recycling company.
A Hastings man, Jack McCoy, 85, died tragically Thursday afternoon in
an accident at a St. Paul recycling company.
McCoy was unloading cans from his truck at Alter Metal Recycling when
an employee driving a skid load accidentally backed into him.
The accident occurred at about 1:40 p.m.
More information on the accident will be posted as it becomes available.
McCoy was a World War II veteran who served with the Navy.
He was married to Betty Rother and worked at the 3M plant in Cottage
Grove for 39 years until retiring in 1986.
He is a past member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.
McCoy is survived by his wife Betty; children Colleen Broderson of
Bloomington, Mark (Maggie) McCoy of Indianapolis, Jack (Becky) McCoy
of White Bear Lake, Kent (Angie) McCoy of Falcon Heights, MN, Chris
(Deb) McCoy of St. Paul Park, Kelly (Diane) McCoy of Ellsworth, WI,
and Mary (Pete) Swanson of Inver Grove Heights; also 19
grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and sister Helen Bastien of
Hastings.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at St. Elizabeth
Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home
in Hastings.
