Relay events kick off Feb. 1

Officials from The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of South Washington County announced its kickoff event for the year: a theatrical event at Woodbury Theatre.

Current and former team captains and members are welcome at the event, set for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1, as is anyone interested in joining a team. The event will recap the 2010 event, discuss 2011 goals, strategies and fundraising. There will also be a “sneak peek” of this year’s “More Birthdays”-themed Relay, a “Why do you Relay” interview opportunity and prize giveaways.

Last year’s Relay for Life of South Washington County was No. 1 in the state, with more than 900 participants from 100 teams, raising $218,000. This year’s Relay will be from 6 p.m. June. 3 to 9 a.m. June 4 at East Ridge High School.
