Gymnastics: Kilgore wins all-around, but Woodbury falls to Park

Park defeated Woodbury 141.825 to 132.275 in a Suburban East Conference and intra-district rivalry gymnastics meet on Thursday, Jan. 13, at Woodbury High School.

Park defeated Woodbury 141.825 to 132.275 in a Suburban East Conference and intra-district rivalry gymnastics meet on Thursday, Jan. 13, at Woodbury High School.

Park freshmen Kelly McKenzie and Sarah LaBrosse led the way for the shorthanded Wolfpack in the win.

With Park sophomore Kasondra Tulloch, who has the top all-around score in the state this year at 38.0, on the sidelines with a sore shoulder, McKenzie took second place in the all-around with a 35.225 and LaBrosse finished in third place overall with a 34.85 all-around score. Woodbury senior Jenna Kilgore won the all-around event with a score of 35.925, including first place finishes in the bars (9.2), beam (9.15) and a second-place vault performance (9.1).

For Park, McKenzie took first place in the vault (9.3) and was second place in the floor exercise (9.45) and LaBrosse finished third place in the bars (8.6) and on the beam (8.8). Additionally, Park sophomore Rachel Deephouse earned first place in the floor exercise (9.5) and second place on the bars (9.175) and eighth-grader Sarah Schank took third place in the vault (9.0).

Park improved to 4-0 in the SEC with the win. Woodbury is 2-3 in the conference.

Next, Park competes in the Lakeville North Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 15, before returning to the SEC against Forest Lake on Jan. 20 at Park. Woodbury travels across town to East Ridge on Saturday, Jan. 20, for its next meet.
