The Woodbury girls basketball team exploded for 50 first-half points in a 70-23 thumping of Hastings on Tuesday, Jan. 4, in a Suburban East Conference game at Woodbury High School.
In the game, Woodbury (6-2; 4-0 SEC) took a 50-14 lead in the first half, then held the Raiders (0-10; 0-4 SEC) to nine points in the second half for the decisive win.
Woodbury’s Kristina White and Michelle Young each went over 20 points in the victory.
White, a sophomore guard, had a game-high and personal season-high 21 points to lead the way. Young, a senior forward, had 20 points. Young leads the Royals — and the conference — in scoring on the season with a 23.0 points per game average. White is second in scoring for Woodbury at 13.6 points per game.
Next, Woodbury travels to SEC rival Stillwater on Friday, Jan. 7. Stillwater is 6-6 on the year and 3-1 in the conference this year.
