East Ridge sophomore Katelyn Bergloff scored 3:47 into overtime to help the East Ridge girls hockey team beat the St. Paul Blades 4-3 in the opening round of the Tartan Holiday Tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 28, in Oakdale.
The win ended the Raptors’ eight-game losing streak and gave the team its first win over a Minnesota opponent.
Senior forward Maegan Larson, and freshmen Olivia Henderson and Jaedyn Walz also scored for the Raptors (2-9), who hadn't won a game since topping New Richmond, Wis., 6-2 on Nov. 19.
Additionally, East Ridge goalie Paige Press stopped 18 shots in the first two periods and Katie Ahmann stopped 11 shots in the third period and overtime.
Larson now leads the team in scoring with six points and four goals.
Next, the Raptors face off with Mahtomedi in the second round at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Tartan High School.
