East Ridge boys basketball: Raptors fall to Mounds View in conference opener

The East Ridge boys basketball team opened the Suburban East Conference schedule with a narrow 73-68 loss to Mounds View on Friday, Dec. 17, at East Ridge High School.

The East Ridge boys basketball team opened the Suburban East Conference schedule with a narrow 73-68 loss to Mounds View on Friday, Dec. 17, at East Ridge High School.

In the game, Mounds View (1-3; 1-0 SEC) took a 37-24 lead over the Raptors at “the Perch.” However, East Ridge (1-2; 0-1 SEC) battled back, outscoring the Mustangs 44-36 in the second half, but fell just short in its comeback attempt.

Junior guard Justin Pahl led the way for the Raptors in the loss with a game-high 25 points. Senior center Adam Schwartz kicked in 12 points and senior forward Dayo Idowu added nine points in the defeat.

Prior to falling to Mounds View, East Ridge suffered its first loss of the year, 73-52, to non-conference opponent St. Louis Park on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at St. Louis Park (2-2). Individual statistics from the loss were not made available.

Next, East Ridge travels to St. Paul to take on non-conference foe Harding (1-1) on Thursday, Dec. 23.
