After a 1-8 season a year ago, the Woodbury boys swimming and diving team is hoping to improve on its dual meet record with a young group of swimmers.
“We are also looking for some top finishes at the section and state meets,” Woodbury head coach Martin Hoven added. Hoven has coached the team two years.
This year the Royals will be led by captains Jordan Heir, a senior, and Victory Lugg, a junior, along with Greg Nortsten and Nathan Jensen.
Two key departures the team will need to replace are Justin Ludescher and Tyler Wadd.
Last season, Woodbury’s lone win came over district foe Park. The Royals fell to their other intra-district rival, East Ridge, last year.
This season, Woodbury begins the season with the annual Suburban East Conference relays on Tuesday, Dec. 9 in Stillwater. The Royals then host the Woodbury Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 28, before doing battle with Park on Tuesday, Jan. 11 and closing the regular season out with East Ridge on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
