CITY COUNCIL: Ohs re-elected; Burns in

Voters sent Julie Ohs back for another Woodbury City Council term and Christopher Burns narrowly won an open seat.

Voters sent Julie Ohs back for another Woodbury City Council term and Christopher Burns narrowly won an open seat.

In a field of 16 candidates, Ohs garnered 18 percent of the vote, according to the secretary of state's unofficial vote results. In her re-election campaign she touted the importance of maintaining some consistency on the City Council as Woodbury elected a new mayor.

Burns, who grew up in Woodbury and recently has been involved with city volunteer commissions, edged out another long-time Woodbury resident. Burns garnered 10.62 percent of the vote. Mark Wackerfuss came in third with 10.07 percent.

Burns replaces Mary Giuliani Stephens, who was elected mayor.

Unofficial vote results in the City Council race:

Julie Ohs -- 5,776; 18.26 percent

Christopher Burns -- 3,359; 10.62 percent

Mark Wackerfuss -- 3,185; 10.07 percent

Jennifer Santini -- 2,745; 8.68 percent

Daryl Wahl -- 2,353; 7.44 percent

Alice Gruber -- 1,915; 6.05 percent

Nicholas Ortiz -- 1,770; 5.6 percent

Don Place -- 1,714; 5.42 percent

Jane Green -- 1,665; 5.26 percent

Steven Peterson -- 1,547; 4.89 percent

Jennifer Sutch -- 1,259; 3.98 percent

David Dobson -- 982; 3.1 percent

Jeremy Jenkins -- 928; 2.93 percent

Robert Mehling -- 854; 2.7 percent

Ross Altendorfer -- 745; 2.36 percent

Jon Rusten -- 645; 2.04 percent

Write-in -- 189; 0.6 percent
