COUNTY BOARD: Weik, Pulkrabek defeat challengers

Incumbents in races for the District 2 and 5 seats to the Washington County Board of Commissioners cruised to victories over their respective challengers on Election Day.
District 2 incumbent Bill Pulkrabek defeated Lake Elmo Mayor Dean Johnston, 55.86 percent (9,835 votes) to 43.71 percent (7,696 votes). District 2 includes Oakdale, Lake Elmo and a portion of Woodbury.
District 5 incumbent Lisa Weik defeated challenger Woodbury businessmen Kelly Monkman 68.36 percent (9,832 votes) to 31.20 percent (4,487 votes). District 5 includes most of Woodbury. Weik was first elected in 2008 to fulfill the remainder of the term won in 2006 by the late Greg Orth.
