Reasons for running for School Board: Wheeler said he decided to run for re-election to his third term on the District 622 School Board because of where the district currently is.
“I thought, given the challenging times, the district was going to need by experience,” he said.
Wheeler is the only incumbent of the three electable seats who is running for re-election.
Platform: Wheeler said he is most concerned with the state funding and what that means for the district’s budget.
“We don’t know what the economy is going to do, we don’t know who’s going to the be the next governor,” he said.
Wheeler said he also wants to focus on continuing to improve the district’s achievement.
“My priority is to raise the expectations we have for our students,” he said. “We’ve come a long ways, but I’m not completely satisfied with where we are.”
