Reasons for running for School Board: Myers said he decided to run for election to the District 622 School Board because he has the time.
“I’m at a point where I want to give back to the community,” he said.
Platform: The major issues that Myers said he is concerned with for District 622 include the budget, the levy and potential for cuts within the district.
“I am not an advocate for laying anyone off,” he said.
Specifically, Myers said he is concerned with population projections and proposed cuts at the elementary level.
“What I do see is that if that kids don’t have solid foundation, as things change they’re going to fall behind,” he said.
Myers also said he wants to support special education classes in elementary schools as well as advanced placement classeslike those at North High School.
