Royals run at Roy Griak Invite

Woodbury cross-country teams take part in annual meet.

The Woodbury girls and boys cross-country teams took to the trails of the Les Bolstad Golf Course at the University of Minnesota for the 25th-annual Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Woodbury’s girls squad took 46th in the Gold Division by securing 1,150 points in the 54-team field, while the Royals boys placed 50th out of 55 squads in its Gold Division competition.

Senior Lauren Domski led the Woodbury girls with a time of 20 minutes, 55 seconds to take 110th in the individual standings, with sophomore Ainslee Neu (21:47) placing 203rd and junior Emily Twohig (21:52) taking 209th out of 495 finishers on the five-kilometer course.

Rounding out the scoring for the Royals was eighth-grader Catherine Henning (23:11) in 313th and senior Allyson Sevold (23:12) in 315th.

For the Woodbury boys, senior Leighton Becher led the way with a 154th-place finish in 17:44. Junior Sam Evans (18:07) placed 222nd on the 5K course, with classmate Luke Wittman (18:30) coming in 274th.

Freshman Taylor Voit (18:52) and eighth-grader Nicholas Wareham (19:01) placed 308th and 330th, respectively, out of 511 total finishers.

Next up for Woodbury is a trip to Red Wing for an invitational meet on Friday, Oct. 1.
