'Messy' Radio Drive road project begins

Construction crews started removing pavement on the southbound side of Radio Drive Monday morning, marking the beginning of a month-long road project on one of Woodbury's busiest roadways.

Construction crews started removing pavement on the southbound side of Radio Drive Monday morning, marking the beginning of a month-long project on one of Woodbury's busiest roadways.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Radio Drive from Donegal Drive south to Pioneer Drive. The first phase of construction has both lanes of traffic traveling on the northbound side of Radio Drive.

City officials said the project will slow traffic. Signal lights that control intersections in the work zone have been temporarily replaced with stop signs.

Vehicles headed northbound on Radio Drive during the Monday morning rush hour were backed up at the intersection with Valley Creek Road.

"This is going to be a major delay through our city," Woodbury City Engineer Klayton Eckles said. "It's going to be messy."
