Woodbury volleyball wins season opener at Andover; Royals boys soccer logs a tie Champlin Park.
It was a win and a tie for a pair of Woodbury teams on the road on Monday night as the Woodbury volleyball team claimed victory in its season opener while the Royals boys soccer team tied a familiar opponent.
WHS Volleyball
Linda Crum earned a victory in her first game as the Woodbury head volleyball coach as the Royals swept host Andover in three-straight games (25-19, 25-22, 25-21).
Crum's crew plays once more on the road, traveling to Burnsville on Tuesday, before opening up its home schedule with a non-conference matchup against Eagan at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
Individual statistics were not currently available.
WHS Boys Soccer
Following a 4-1 win versus Hill-Murray in its home opener last Saturday, the Woodbury boys soccer team traveled to Champlin Park to face the team it defeated 1-0 in the first round of the 2009 state tournament.
This time, both sides got on the board as both the Rebels and Royals mustered a pair of goals in a 2-2 tie.
Individual results were not currently available.
Woodbury increased its regular-season winning streak to 24 games with the deadlock. The Royals have not lost a regular season game since a setback against Cretin-Derham Hall on Sept. 8, 2008.
Cretin visits Royals Stadium in the Suburban East Conference opener on Thursday, Sept. 2.
