Wakota Bridge lane closures start Thursday
Motorists will experience lane closures on eastbound Interstate 494 from Fifth Avenue in South St. Paul to Highway 61 in Newport, in the area of the Wakota Bridge.
Motorists will experience lane closures on eastbound Interstate 494 from Fifth Avenue in South St. Paul to Highway 61 in Newport, in the area of the Wakota Bridge, according to a Minnesota Department of Transportation press release.
The lane closure will be in effect between 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26 and 5 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 27. All eastbound lanes will be open Friday during the day. Eastbound Interstate 494 will then again be reduced to one lane beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27 with all lanes reopening by 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30.
The lane closures are necessary to apply the permanent pavement markings to eastbound Interstate 494 in the vicinity of the Wakota Bridge. Westbound Interstate 494 will not be affected by this work.
The remaining finishing work on the Wakota Bridge project will be completed by mid-September.
The Interstate 494 project in Woodbury (Lake Road to Interstate 94) will also be completed this week and all lanes will be open to traffic.
