A new department store is planned for the Tamarack Village shopping area.
Gordmans, an Omaha, Neb.-based retailer, plans a spring 2011 opening, said Hans Rasmussen, president of Robert Muir Co., which owns the commercial property along Radio Drive.
The department store will be located in the former World Market space and the space occupied by Bed Bath and Beyond, which is moving to the vacant spot that was Circuit City, Rasmussen said.
Gordmans is similar to Kohl’s and JCPenney. There is a JCPenney in Tamarack Village.
Gordmans is breaking into the Twin Cities market. In addition to Woodbury, it also has plans for a Burnsville store. There is a Gordmans in Mankato.
The retailer has 68 stores in 16 states in the Midwest and the South.
