Middle school ranks second in state on science test

Woodbury Middle School ranks second in the state on MCA II science test.

Back in the winter Woodbury Middle School science teacher Nick George set the goal of being ranked number one, in percentage of students proficient, in the state on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) II science test.

Last year WMS was ranked ninth out of all public middle schools with 65 percent of students proficient.

George saw his dreams narrowly realized by ranking second in the state. WMS achieved a 79 percent proficiency rating.

Mahtomedi Middle School was ranked number one with 84 percent.

"They're going down next year," George said.

Rounding out the top five schools were Wayzaa West Middle School, Wayzata Central Middle School and Minnetonka West Middle School.

See the Aug. 4 print edition of the Woodbury Bulletin for a full story on Woodbury Middle School's accomplishments on the MCA II test.
