Local military support groups are organizing a charity motorcycle ride to honor three area soldiers who were killed in Iraq nearly one year ago.
The inaugural “Ride to Remember” is scheduled for Saturday, July 24 at the Stillwater VFW.
The ride will raise funds for a scholarship in honor of Daniel Drevnick, Carlos Wilcox and James Wertish. All three were members of the Stillwater-based 34th Military Police Company and were killed in action July 16, 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Drevnick was from Woodbury. Wilcox was from Cottage Grove.
The ride runs from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A spaghetti dinner and dance will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the VFW at 5880 Omaha Ave. N.
Cost of the event is $10 per person.
Those who wish to participate in the motorcycle ride can register at 12:30 p.m. at the Stillwater Veterans Memorial on the corner of Third Street West and Pine Street North.
