Carver Lake Beach is the summer spot

Do you know there is a beach in Woodbury? Carver Lake Beach is a hidden Woodbury treasure.

Do you know there is a beach in Woodbury? Carver Lake Beach is a hidden Woodbury treasure.

Carver Lake Beach, located at 3175 Century Avenue S., has been a popular recreational area since the city began operating the beach in 1993.

Carver Lake Park is one of four community parks in Woodbury. At 150 acres, it is second in size only to Tamarack Nature Preserve. Its acres hold woods, steep lakeshore bluffs, prairie, a stream and lake. Along with the beach, Carver Lake Park offers walking and biking trails, sand volleyball courts, playground, a large-group picnic shelter, a picnic area and a fire ring.

But it is the beach that draws crowds on summer days. You can get to the site by taking Lake Road west to Courtly Road and west to Century Avenue South. The park entrance is past the lake on the east side of Century Avenue. Beachgoers should park in the lot and walk north toward the beach.

There is no beach admission fee.
