Road project on I-494 at Highway 5 will delay traffic

Motorists are expected to encounter delays on both directions of I-494 and Highway 5 as construction crews complete a striping project between 24th Street and the Mississippi River Bridge in Bloomington, officials with the state Department of Transportation said Thursday.

Crews must re-stripe fog lines and lane markings on the corridor between the two points. The roadway will be reduced to two lanes as crews replace the pavement markings in the center lanes as well.

The work and closures will occur overnight, between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. during this week and on Sunday, June 20. Weather permitting, the project is anticipated to be completed by June 22.
