Sports Notebook for May 1
Woodbury boys lacrosse remains unbeaten while Royals, Raptors baseball squads fall in SEC matchups.
It was a peculiar spring weekend as Friday night all-but brought the week to a close for nearly all — Woodbury boys junior varsity tennis not withstanding — of the city's high school athletic teams.
WHS Boys Lacrosse
Woodbury pushed its record to 4-0 with a 13-1 smiting of the Minneapolis Warriors at Royals Stadium. Individual statistics were not currently available.
WHS Boys Track and Field
The Royals boys track and field team finished third at the Irish Invitational meet in Rosemount, securing 115 points. The hosts accumulated 219, while Eastview took second with 122.5 and North St. Paul claimed fourth with 103.5. Individual statistics were not available.
WHS Baseball
Woodbury's two-game winning streak ran into a wall as the Royals were blasted, 8-1, at White Bear Lake to fall to 5-5 on the year. Michael Policano took the loss on the mound for Woodbury. Statistics were not currently available.
ERHS Baseball
Like their cross-town neighbors, the East Ridge also fell in its Suburban East Conference matchup as Stillwater felled the Raptors, 6-2, at the Bielenberg Sports Center to drop the hosts to 5-6 on the season. Pitcher Eric Alsides was saddled with the defeat off the hill for East Ridge. Statistics were not available.
SWC Girls Lacrosse
The South Washington County girls lacrosse team was drubbed, 21-5, at Roseville to drop the Woodbury/East Ridge cooperative's record to 1-4 on the year.
East Ridge/Woodbury II
The second meeting of the season between the Woodbury and East Ridge baseball teams is slated to be played at Royals Field on Monday afternoon at 4:15 p.m.
