Hays claims first round win at State tourney
Woodbury 189-pounder remains undefeated with easy win in Class AAA individual opener.

Leading Woodbury's five-man contingent at the State Class AAA Wrestling Tournament, 189-pounder C.J. Hays improved to 41-0 on the season with an 11-3 victory over Hastings' Jake Swenson in the opening round.
The news was not as good for the Royals' other four wrestlers, as Justin Herold-Plakut (103 pounds), Ben Donnelly (119), Brandon Borchardt (135) and Dan Tyler (140) all lost their respective first-round matches.
While the upcoming schedule for those four is yet to be determined, Hays will take on St. Michael-Albertville's Kraig Schumm at 5 p.m. Thursday evening.
