Afton hires new deputy clerk

The new part-time deputy clerk, Connie Nelson, is from Hudson, Wisc. Nelson comes to Afton after having worked as a bookkeeper and insurance processor for the city of Oakdale from 2000-2006. Additionally, Nelson has previously worked as a clerk for the city of Inver Grove Heights.
The council decided to hire a part-time deputy clerk after office manager Connie Slaten retired at the end of the December.
The decision to move from an office manager position to a part-time deputy clerk position came from the addition of assistant city administrator Sara Irvine who took up a lot of the office manager duties.
Nelson will work a total of 30 hours per week.
