East Ridge girls cagers win first SEC game
Raptors top Hastings, 52-49, to snap 14-game losing streak.
The East Ridge girls basketball team snapped its 14-game losing streak on by defeating Hastings, 52-49, at "The Raptors' Perch" on Tuesday night for the program's first-ever Suburban East Conference triumph.
It was the first victory for the Raptors in two months, the last win coming against St. Paul Harding on Dec. 19.
A close game throughout, East Ridge held on to defeat the Raiders by three points as Hannah Pignato scored a team-high 14 points, with Brianna Walker recording 12 points.
The victory pulled the Raptors (3-20 overall, 1-14 SEC) into a ninth-place tie with Hastings (1-22, 1-14) in the league rankings. The Raiders have lost nine in a row since recording their lone win of the season — against East Ridge in Hastings — on Jan. 12.
The Raptors host Cretin-Derham Hall on Friday night.
