Bring out your flatbread

Greg Biller got a call from his brother about a business opportunity he couldn’t pass up: Own the first Sandella’s Flatbread Café in the state of Minnesota and one of the first in the Upper Midwest.
Biller, of Amery, Wis., said he jumped at the chance.
Sandella’s opened in Seasons Marketplace late last month and Biller said he couldn’t think of a better place than Woodbury to bring the flatbread sandwich franchise that made a splash on the East Coast more than 15 years ago.
“Woodbury has the demographic we were looking for to bring Sandella’s to the Twin Cities,” said Biller, whose brother Curtis was in charge of developing several locations in the Midwest as a part of a franchise expansion for the company that has its foundations in Connecticut. “We make great paninis and wraps with all sorts of flavors. It’s for people who love good food and want to eat healthy.”
Sandella’s fast casual approach is one that has caught on in the last 5-10 years across the country, and, of course, in Woodbury. It’s not quite fast food. It’s not quite full-service sit down, along the same lines of restaurants like Noodles and Co. and Panera. Biller said Sandella’s stands out because of its unique menu, which includes wraps, grilled paninis and grilled flatbread pizzas.
The fact that the restaurant is located across the street from Lifetime Fitness is no coincidence, Biller said.
“We fully expect the gym crowd to be in here after their workouts,” he said.
The restaurant offers a small dine-in space and plans to add seasonal tables and chairs for a summertime patio.
Sandella’s Flatbread Café is located at 783 Radio Drive in the Seasons Marketplace commercial development.
