New District 833 program offers tutoring
Sessions to start Feb. 23
South Washington County Schools Community Education’s new Skills Plus Learning Academy is accepting registration for private and semi-private math tutoring for youth in grades 6 – 8.
Sessions begin Tuesday, Feb. 23. The cost is $99 for six 1-hour semi-private (up to four students) sessions; or $230 for six 1-hour private sessions.
Tutoring is available for Math 6, Pre Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2.
Sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5:30 p.m. and are offered at Central Park, 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury and the School District Program Center, 8400 East Point Douglas Road South, Cottage Grove.
Tutors are experienced professionals. All teachers are licensed and employees of the South Washington County School District.
No testing is needed to begin the tutoring program since district test scores are used; instructional strategies are based on each child’s MAP test scores; and district textbooks are used.
Tutors focus on specific learning styles and needs of students, “helping to create a positive and successful learning environment for students to progress and improve.” Weekly updates on your child’s progress will be provided.
To register or for additional information, call (651) 458-6624.
Fee assistance is available to those qualifying for free and reduced lunch.
