Afton Comp Plan delayed again

Final approval of Afton’s comprehensive development plan has been delayed one more time so that the Afton City Council has adequate time to review it and discuss it further.

The Afton City Council voted to postpone a vote for final approval at its Jan. 19 meeting.

Cities across the metro are required by state statute to update their comprehensive plans every 10 years, turning the draft document over to the Metropolitan Council for inspection. Afton was scheduled to submit its comprehensive plan a year ago, but is behind schedule.

Afton’s comprehensive plan outlines the vision for the city associated with development and growth.

The comprehensive plan will be discussed at a Jan. 27 work session.
