The Cedar Bluff Homestead development has one more hurdle to jump over before receiving final approval from the Afton City Council — a public hearing.
The Afton City Council was scheduled to vote on the final plat during its Jan. 19 meeting, however the city attorney advised them to hold a public hearing first since the project has changed significantly.
The proposed Cedar Bluff Homestead development was originally approved in 2006 to be Afton’s first clustered housing development which would include 36 individual lots, as well as a communal septic system. The development will also include a 70-acre conservation easement with the Minnesota Land Trust in hopes of preserving open space.
However, the project, which has been a subject of debate among the council over the last year, will now include 25 individual lots, and private on-site septic systems.
The public hearing is scheduled for Feb. 17 during the regular city council meeting.
