Democrat Tarryl Clark on Thursday formally kicked off her campaign to replace Republican U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Clark, a state senator from St. Cloud, started a campaign swing through the 6th District, which includes the east metro. She plans a Woodbury stop at 4 p.m. Sunday at Davanni's.
The end of Clark's six-day tour coincides with Tuesday's precinct caucuses, where candidates will try to gain the early support of local party activists.
Clark is vying for the Democratic endorsement with Maureen Reed of Stillwater, a physician and former candidate for lieutenant governor.
Bachmann is seeking a third House term. She announced last week that former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will appear with her on the campaign trail in April.
Bachmann was scheduled to attend a Republican event in Orange County, California Thursday.
