Dragons good for fifth in Classic Suburban Nordic meet
Jacob Siekmeier earns All-Conference laurels, Aren Siekmeier claims CSC Honorable Mention at conference championship.
The "regular season" for the Math and Science Academy boys Nordic ski team came to an end on Tuesday in the Classic Suburban Conference championship meet at Troll Hollow in Dresser, Wis.
Jacob Siekmeier earned the freshman All-Conference honors for a tenth-place time of 28 minutes, 1 second, while junior Aren Siekmeier claimed Classic Suburban Honorable Mention with a 15th-place time of 28:21.
Kyle Osborne (30:46) took 25th, with Tim Siepmann (35:11) in 49th; Han Yong Wunrow (37:37) and Peter Irvine (38:32) took 59th and 60th, respectively.
The Dragons did not officially qualify in the team standings as MSA is not technically a member of the Classic Suburban Conference, but an unofficial tabulation of the results would have placed the squad fifth out of eight teams.
"Our team is skiing really well and looking toward sections," coach Daniel Scheff said.
Next up for MSA is the Section 4 championship meet on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at Battle Creek Park West.
"Jacob and Aren should place really high at (the section meet) with Kyle close by," Scheff said. "The key for our team will come down to can we get big race out of our number four skier."
