Woodbury High School alumnus David Eddy is making a name for himself as the newest source of offense for the high-powered St. Cloud State University men’s hockey team.
The former Royals forward was named the WCHA Rookie of the Week for the week of Jan. 26 after his performance against the University of Minnesota on Jan. 22 and 23.
Eddy, a freshman right winger for the Huskies scored one goal in each of his team’s two weekend wins over the Golden Gophers in a home-and-home series that took place in St. Cloud and Minneapolis on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
In his high school career, Eddy helped lead the Woodbury boys hockey team to the first two state tournament appearances in program history.
These days, his Huskies club is ranked fifth in the latest Division I poll and is currently riding an eight-game winning streak.
In his first year with SCSU after playing two seasons for the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League, Eddy has tallied seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 18 games played.
