Raptors swept by Hastings
East Ridge drops boys, girls hoops contests to Raiders.
Suburban East Conference rival Hastings proved to be the bane for both the East Ridge boys and girls basketball teams as the Raiders swept the Raptors both at home and away on Tuesday night.
ERHS Boys Hoop
The East Ridge boys lost their third-straight contests with a 79-63 loss to Hastings in "The Raptors' Perch" at ERHS, falling to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in SEC play on the year.
Behind an eventual game-high 38 points from Nate Gmiterko, the Raiders rolled to a 37-17 halftime lead before play leveled off in the second half as John Hietpas, Dillon Johnson and Adam Schwartz scored 20, 18 and 11 points, respectively, for the hosts.
The Raptors host league co-leader Cretin-Derham Hall, ranked sixth in Class AAAA, on Friday night.
ERHS Girls Hoops
Somebody had to claim victory in a battle of teams winless in conference play — and unfortunately for the East Ridge girls, it was Hastings that would claim their first league win with a 44-33 edging of the visiting Raptors.
Katie Hagberg, as per her usual, led the Raptors with 18 points. Yet, ERHS could not recover from an 18-7 halftime deficit in losing their sixth SEC game in as many tries. East Ridge fell to 2-11 overall on the season as they remain on the road to play at Cretin on Friday night.
